401 Park Avenue South Building Lobby

The objective for this project was to redesign the building lobby of New York School of Interior Design, located at 401 Park Avenue South.

The concept was to represent a connection between the floors above with the lobby space below. The use of the spiral helps this connection by coming through the ceiling, going down and being built into the desk, tapering off into the floor, and then coming back up again in the form of the curving bench. The use of concrete for the continous strip was pulled from the black marble and used to give good contrast against the stark black filling up the space, the walnut was added to add a touch of warmth.
